Keynote: Frank McKenna

Frank McKenna has served as Deputy Chair of TD Bank Financial Group since 2006, supporting the bank in its customer acquisition strategy and representing TDBFG as it works to expand its North American presence. Previously, Frank spent a decade as Premier of New Brunswick, working to balance budgets, pioneer e-government services, attract innovative industry clusters, and improve educational outcomes. He also played a central role on the national stage, where he became a lead advocate for the Canada-US Free Trade Agreement. Nominated to the post by Prime Minister Martin in 2005, Frank was charged with navigating contentious bilateral trade and security issues during his tenure as Canadian Ambassador to the United States.
In the private sector, Frank is in wide demand as a corporate director, currently sitting on the boards of Canadian Natural Resources and Brookfield Asset Management. He has also led the boards of CanWest Global, the Bank of Montreal and General Motors. Additionally, Frank lends his expertise to many charitable causes. He is Chairman of the Laureate Selection Committee of the Canadian Business Hall of Fame, and has served as National Head of Career Edge and as member of the National Adult Literacy Database. He is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University as well as Queen?s University, where he completed a graduate degree in political science. He received his Law degree from the University of New Brunswick and is the recipient of eight honourary doctorates.
Dr. Lloyd Atkinson
Dr. Lloyd Atkinson was Executive Vice President and Chief Economist of the Bank of Montreal for 12 years. Previously, he served for two years as Deputy Assistant Director at the US Congressional Budget Office in Washington and prior to that served for two years as Senior Economist at the Joint Economic Committee of the US Congress. He has also served as a consultant to the US delegations to the IMF and the World Bank. He received the Peat Marwick "Most Accurate Predictor" Award for the years 1988-1993. Dr. Atkinson is the author of several books as well as scholarly articles on a variety of economic subjects, including budget deficits, tax policy, and investment behaviour.

Rick Albert has been Treasurer of Linamar Corporation since 2006, and oversees cash management, foreign exchange and financing on a global basis. He is responsible for the international implementation of cash management strategies, the development of treasury policies, and proactive risk management. Prior to Linamar, Rick was Director of Global Foreign Exchange and Treasury Operations for Magna International Inc. He received his Honours Bachelor of Arts in Commerce and Economics from the University of Toronto in 1987 and is a board member of the York Region Food Network.
Mike Beale

Mike is the Director General of Strategic Priorities at Environment Canada, where his responsibilities include coordinating the development of the regulatory framework for greenhouse gases and air pollutants. He has worked on climate change policy development for several years. Previous responsibilities at Environment Canada have included policy development in the areas of trade and environment, energy and environment, and economic instruments. Prior to joining Environment Canada in 1989, Mike spent 8 years working in energy policy at what was then Energy, Mines and Resources Canada.
Léon Bitton

Léon Bitton presently serves as Vice President of Research and Development at the Bourse de Montréal, the Canadian Financial Derivative Exchange. Mr. Bitton has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry. Mr. Bitton has led the research and development effort related to most of the Montreal Exchange current listed derivatives products. He holds a Master degree from the University of Québec in Montreal. Mr. Bitton is Member of the Board of the Research Center CIRANO and formally served on the boards of the Association des MBA du Québec , MITACS (Mathematics of Information Technology and Complex Systems) and the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation, a subsidiary of the Montréal Exchange that provides clearing and risk management services.
James Gage

Jamey Gage is a partner in the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Group of McCarthy Tétrault in Toronto. He practices in the areas of bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring and has extensive experience advising creditors and debtors in work-out, receivership, bankruptcy and CCAA proceedings in both Canadian and international contexts. Mr. Gage provides advice on insolvency issues in structuring transactions and the effect of insolvency proceedings on derivatives. He has been cited by numerous publications as a leading expert in the field. He received his HBA and his LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario.

Richard A. Levy joined Latham & Watkins in 1983 and is a partner in the Chicago office. His work has included sales of businesses (in and outside of insolvency proceedings), corporate business reorganizations, workouts and out-of-court restructurings. Jay Stark

Investigation and Protection Services. Jay joined RBC Financial Group
